St. Stephen's Episcopal Church Oak Harbor

By God's Grace, All Are Welcome

A Word from the Sr. Warden

I think we must have magic mice in our church. You know the ones, just like the shoemaker who woke up to new shoes, and Cinderella who woke up to a new dress. Things are happening at St. Stephen’s, and very few people even know about them.

For example, did you know that we have a brand-new conference room, between the administrative office and the Rector’s office? I am pretty sure that it is completely unrecognizable from any past form that most anyone here would remember. For that matter, the office itself has had some changes. Our new, modern printer is now set up in the office, where it will be more easily accessible for anyone working in there.

There is something going on in our portable buildings. Things have been moved around, and very soon there should be a lot less “stuff” in there. At that point, we will be able to dream about what we can do with all that extra space.

I have heard whisperings of speed dating soon happening in our parish hall. We will be able to hear all about many dates(ministries), and see which ones are most compatible with us.

There are also plans being made to improve the look, function and welcome of our church property. It seems that we might be able to make our facilities more easily accessed, and less confusing to new visitors. We might even see some new signage, to help people navigate to and into our buildings.

A rumor is circulating that the “Greening Committee” is active again, and coming up with some ways we can all care for God’s creation. I hope you will be ready and willing to move forward with those things that work for you, and can help us all create a smaller footprint on this wonderful place we call home.

These are just a few of the many things going on at St. Stephen’s. Please watch for new and exciting changes, and get ready to jump in where you feel most called.
